ProMaCon 2010
The second edition of the National Project Management conference (ProMaCon 2010) with the theme “Project Management: the key to National Development” held from the 21st to the 22nd of September 2010 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja.
The 2-day Conference which featured technical presentations, training workshops and exhibitions drew participants from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government, private enterprises, multi-national corporations, industries as well as from the Academia witnessed a huge turn out which lived up to its billing as the largest gathering of project professionals in west Africa.
Technical papers were presented by veterans in the field of project management drawn from the private sector, Public Sector and the Academia. The sessions featured presentations by Mr. Deji Ishmael (President PMI Lagos-Nigeria and CEO Mediabloc), Engr. Oluwatoyin Jokosenumi (Deputy Director SPD and Group Head EPMO, CBN), Mr. Kolapo Solesi (COO, Abridge Consulting), Mr. Tomi Davies (CEO TechnoVision) and Engr. C.C. Katchy (Deputy Commissioner of Nigerian Police Force), others are Mr. Ike Nwankwo (CEO, Distinct Mgt UK), Prof. Gibson Okorafor (Dept. of Project Mgt. Tech. FUTO), Mr. Walter Hekala (Principal Associate, Nathan Inc. USA) and Ayegba Dan Ugo (Comptroller – Risk Mgt. Nigeria Customs). Guest Presentations were delivered by Dr. Bright Okogu (Director General, Budget office of the Federation) and Engr. Ahmed Mansur (Director General, Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission), keynotes and goodwill messages were delivered by as well as the Honourable Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Nduese Essien and Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for networking and Knowledge sharing between practicing and intending project managers ended with the publication of a communiqué which captured the many thought provoking recommendations to private and government on how to institutionalize Project Management and use it to drive National Development.
ProMaCon 2010 organised by iCentra Consulting in collaboration with PMI Nigeria was sponsored by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and supported by Mediabloc Consulting Group, Abridge Consulting and Ocean Midas.
